Have some predictions.

Published by andrew under interesting, opinions, wtf.

The Cincinnati Bengals will make it to the playoffs.

The San Diego Chargers will win the SuperBowl.

The Phoenix Suns will win NBA Finals. (Even with Shaq..)

The Detroit RedWings will win the Stanley Cup (again.)

Onto other news.. We all know this country has been trying to phase out middle class for about 30 years now. Well maybe I’m just crazy, but lets figure this out.. If we can’t afford to travel, we’re pretty easy to control (read other post..) Now nevermind.. Onto something else.

Kill all the god damned cows already. You want to save this planet? No problem. Kill all of them. How many diseases come from cow meat? cow milk? cow cheese? air pollutants? Kill these useless things already. Save a vegetable, kill a cow.

another list for the internets

Published by andrew under opinions, wtf.

Okay, so every site I go to there seems to be some sort of list, that has been around forever, yet people treat it like its new NEWS. Well fuck you guys. It’s not new, it’s not news, and I’m pretty much tired of having to filter through your bullshit to read something else that I half-heartedly give a crap about. Seriously though people, I read one of them the other day, and it was some idiots list of “25 of the worst movie scenes EVER” or some nonsensical garbage like that. Not only did I skip their entire list and go straight to reading comments.. but those just went on to further prove my point. Nobody gives a shit about your crappy list of whatever.

Firefox 3 crashes more often than a broke junkie

Published by andrew under opinions, software, wtf.

So I guess I should first write that I am writing this using Firefox 3. It’s still a good browser, but the best? I don’t know. If it wasn’t for the stumbleupon plugin I probably wouldn’t use it, and just use dillo or links. Sorry Opera, I know you have alot of features, but that’s just more crap that I would never use. Oh yeah Firefox, crashing, grrr… So I didn’t have this problem until I upgraded from Firefox 3 Beta 1 to FF3. Now I would say on average it crashes 10+ times a day. Usually on either gmail, cnn, sometimes just at random. I have no idea what’s causing this. It is pretty annoying. With how much hype this browser has gotten, yes okay, it’s a great browser.. but damn.. such an annoyance, I’ve been considering using another browser. Ouch.

Edit: While I was publishing this article, Firefox crashed, and I had to retype a much shorter version.

over clocking my nvidia 8600m gs

Published by andrew under hardware, interesting

So my ASUS V2S-B1 has a crappy video card. That being the nvidia 8600M GS. It’s 256mb ddr2.. I wanted to play Crysis. (Well I thought I did until i actually played it..) So I went and bought the game, from Target. (What? I love that store.) So $50 later, I install Crysis.. Holy shit. So much lag I can’t play the game. The whole time I was even considering buying the game, I thought it would run okay. I mean Call of Duty 4 runs on high settings forever with no lag. (Wow, I just realized I’m writing about gaming.. Yeesh I have changed alot.) After Crysis sitting on my shelf for a week or so, I started wondering about Over Clocking.. I’ve never had anything or any reason to overclock anything until now. But overclocking a laptop video card? What about the heat? What about.. It’s a laptop.. I started in the usual places researching usually starts. Found some half decent information, the first and foremost important being, it is indeed possible to overclock this video card. So here’s the point of all this, as I am tired of writing about this crap..

Stock clocks

core clock - 500

shader - 1000

memory - 400

Using RivaTuner and 169.04 nvidia drivers I OC’ed it to

core - 680

shader - 1360

mem - 460

It’s been running stable for almost 2 weeks now. My laptop is generally on 12-15hrs day, with maybe an hour or two of gaming.. The temp idles between 56C - 60C. On full load after gaming for a few hours I’ve seen hit hit 77C. I’ve read this card can go higher, and hotter, I am not willing to test this though. and not that it matters much, but it improved my Vista index score from 3.1 to 3.6. and Crysis now also plays just fine with DX10 on medium settings. I found that pretty interesting. I didn’t think overclocking even just that small amount would make that big of a difference. Crysis still sucks, I don’t care how good you make a game look. So yes, you can overclock this card. Yes it runs stable. Yes it makes a huge difference. Yes Crysis is still the most overhyped game I’ve ever played.
